Charity Talent are recruiting for a Project Manager based in North East London, it is working for a Therapeutic Garden they support those experiencing mental health support through health focused workshops. Asap start, pay £200 - £250 per day, 3 days per week. Wed - Friday. This is a two month contract, possibility of extension or leading into something more permanent.

The role of the Project Manager is to oversee and lead the development and day to day running of Forest Farm Peace Garden. The diverse responsibilities of the role mean that your days will vary greatly. During a typical week you might attend meetings with local statutory or voluntary mental health organisations, organise trainings, and oversee the organisation's budget and reporting to funders.

The role balances strategic oversight with a very hands-on involvement with the project and people at the Garden. You will also lead on staff management, support, and development.

You will also manage the Buddy Volunteer Scheme. You will take primary responsibility for the fundraising for the organisation and will have the support of the Treasurer and book-keeper. You will maintain their funding oversee their budget. They are generously funded and they want to Increase their funding next year.

You will plan and coordinate events and workshops with the appropriate staff.

Take lead responsibility in ensuring that adequate income is secured through grants and other sources of funding. You will also monitor, evaluate and provide management reports. You will share responsibility with the Eco-therapy Worker for building partnerships with local statutory and voluntary mental health organisations and various community groups that can refer service users to the project. Support the work of the Eco-therapy Worker, Head Gardener and Sessional Workers in their role running regular staff supervisions and appraisals and identifying opportunities for staff training

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

Experience

  • Experience of effective development, strategic planning, management, and delivery of projects
  • Experience carrying out monitoring and evaluation and liaising with funders, or excellent capacity to learn these skills.
  • Experience liaising with and negotiating with statutory authorities (e.g. Local Authorities and NHS)
  • Experience in generating funds through grant-writing, social enterprise, crowdfunding or other non-traditional means.
  • Experience in the voluntary sector, such as recruiting, training, inducting and providing ongoing support to volunteers.

Education/Knowledge

Educated to degree level.

Skills and Abilities

  • Working proactively and independently - setting your own tasks, structuring your own day, and planning your own work.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to effectively prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in written and oral expression, including ability to write reports.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to support individual staff members and volunteers maximising their potential.
  • Strong ability to communicate with a diverse range of people, from garden users to potential funders, including good conflict resolution and relationship skills.
  • Ability to enjoy the process of developing an exciting project, and to work confidently and flexibly through challenging periods of development with a "can do" attitude.
  • Ability to maintain professional attitude and boundaries in working with project users, local Council, stakeholders, and Trustees.
  • Computer literate with an ability to use Microsoft Word, spreadsheets, databases, website management and social media.
