Established in 2005, C4WS was born out of a ‘grassroots’ determination to provide shelter, kindness and support to some of the most vulnerable people during the coldest months of the year. Through its network of 13 church partners and some 700 volunteers, C4WS has been able to help 80 homeless people off the streets each winter and support 300 people throughout the year.
C4WS is one of only a handful of independent charity-led, London-based shelters who provide 30 community-based shelters. They have managed to open during COVID-19 as usual by renting a temporary single venue to host its winter shelter 2020-21. The Camden charity has broken its 15-year practice of providing dormitory-style shelter moving from church- to- church in direct response to Covid-19 safety concerns. Located in Euston, the temporary shelter opened its doors December 14 and will close April 1st 2021. It has capacity to safely accommodate 20 guests, up from 16 in previous years. Ordinarily, the charity is gifted free floor space in 13 church halls, as well as free food and laundry services.
Charity Talent worked directly with C4WS in early 2021 to help support this sorely needed resource during such difficult times.
"Charity Talent have been excellent from start to finish. We required two members temporary staff to work unsociable hours, with specific skills and within a short timeframe. Charity Talent was able to accommodate these needs quickly and with a thorough selection process. We received two members of staff who were very efficient and personable. Ella Gardiner at Charity Talent kept us regularly updated during the shortlisting process and once started, would check-in to see how the new members of staff were getting on. Having been a Charity Talent worker myself, I know the hard work put in by the team to match the worker to the role and didn’t hesitate to recommend them to C4WS Homeless Project." Harry Bateman – Shelter Coordinator, C4WS Homeless Project
"Charity Talent helped me massively in landing some vital experience in a competitive job market. During a time where jobs are seemingly harder than ever to come by, Charity Talent gave me the tools and support to get an excellent position at a wonderful organisation doing stellar work. I cannot thank them enough!" Frank – Candidate
